DAVID WAYNE SINCLAIR

Date of Passing: October 16, 2019

What a journey!

It began on June 12, 1951 in Deer Lodge, where I went to Linwood, Deer Lodge, and St. James Collegiate. I enjoyed playing golf at Assiniboine Golf Course and hockey at Deer Lodge Community Center. Even managed to win a couple of Provincial Championships.

I moved to Edmonton for a short while and worked at Alberta Government Telephone. But Winnipeg drew me back.

I had a unique and rewarding one-of-a-kind career as a Facilities Planning Manager. Forty years ago, I was working with computer mainframes that filled an entire room. By the end of my career, I was working in rooms filled with mainframes. My career at Great-West Life led to friendships that carried on well into my retirement.

In retirement, I was able to play even more golf, as well as curling, and travelled to some wonderful places, including China, Scotland, Ireland, Hawaii, Arizona, California, the East and West coasts of Canada, and many points in between.

My greatest joy was meeting, falling in love, and later marrying Barb in Hawaii, where we would return many times. Much gratitude to the Newbury family who have loved me as one of their own, making me feel like a brother and son, and to my family who loved and welcomed Barb. Truly a life filled with family and love.

I was predeceased by my mother Doris, father Lloyd, sister Marg, and grandson Niall-David Cash.

I sadly leave behind a wonderful family: my wife Barb, son Scott (Stephanie), twin daughters Hayley and Wendy, grandchildren Morgan, Lloyd, and Piper, sisters Leslie, Susan (Brian), and Heather (Jon), mother-in-law Betty-Anne, brother-in-law George (Dianne), sisters-in-law Pat, Linda, and Jo-Ann (Chris), and many nieces and nephews.

I would like to thank all those who participated in this journey. I couldn’t have done it without you. Farewell, and now I’m off to mingle with my ancestors.

The family would like to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Palliative Care for their support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Assiniboine Park Pavilion, 55 Pavilion Crescent, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Light refreshments and cash bar.
