DAVID MARK WESTMACOTT
After a brief illness, David passed away on January 27th, 2025 at the age of 76. Born in Winnipeg Manitoba on June 27, 1948.
David was predeceased by his parents Phyllis and Mark Westmacott. Left to mourn his loss are his wife Rhonda, sons Mark and Jordan, sisters Dianne and Carol, nephews Geoffrey and Todd (Emily) and brother-in-law Grant.
Dave loved his dogs, the former beloved Mindy and current dog Sadie, who never left his side. David spent most of his life in the St. James area of Winnipeg. He loved sports and was known to get groups of kids together to play ball hockey on Marjorie Street where his family lived for many years. Then David and other musicians formed a rock and roll band in the 60s called “Marjorie’s Children”, later named “Sounds of Silence”. David was very proud of the band, with his good friend Dave King as Lead Singer.
David and Rhonda married on June 25th, 1983 and started their family soon after. David was very proud of his two sons and enjoyed hearing of all their accomplishments. Dave worked for Winnipeg Transit, then Canadian Blood Services and Tony’s Transport. Dave was known for his great sense of humour and lively personality. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
No funeral is planned. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
Thank you to the wonderful nurses and doctors in the St Boniface Hospital Cardiac ICU who assisted our family and David in his final hours.
If friends and family so wish, donations may be made in David’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancercare Manitoba.
