DANIEL EDWARD OLSON
On Jan 17, 2023 in Winnipeg MB, Dan’s journey unexpectedly came to an end. Dan was born
on August 4, 1957 to William (deceased) and Lois Olson in the farming community of Pierson, MB.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife; Katherine Gray-Olson, son Mark Brandon
Olson (Meghan), daughter Erika Laine Olson and mother Lois Olson. He was brother to Lydia
Mills (deceased), John (Rosemarie) Olson, Louise (Malcolm) Jones, Sylvia (Richard) Carignan,
Lois (Charles) Beer, Frances Greywood, Tim (Kathryn) Olson, Wendy Olson and Diane Beggs;
also survived by father-in-law Lockhart Gray, mother-in-law Anne Griffiths, brother-in-law David
(Terina) Gray and a large extended family, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He will
be greatly missed by those he was blessed to have as his most trusted and valued friends.
Dan had a rich and fulfilling career in the field of electrical/electronic Engineering. His career
took him to many wonderful places and blessed him with the opportunity to collaborate with
some extraordinary people. After many years of working at Versatile and Ford-New Holland, in
2001 he started his own successful business N Compass Solutions, giving him the opportunity
to consult for MCI, Mac Don, New Flyer and other companies. He loved a challenge; his
dedicated approach was evident and an integral part of every project in which he was involved.
Dan was a modest man of great faith, slow to anger and quick to forgive. The Golden Rule was
his standard; he lived his life accordingly. He knew time to be a precious commodity, yet gave
his freely. As a husband and father he truly and profoundly understood his wife and children.
He was fiercely devoted; his love and unconditional support were unwavering. His wish for his
family and friends is to never lose sight of their inner child, curiosity, sense of wonder and the
joys of nature.
Dan and his music were taken too soon from us; we can be comforted with knowing he will be
strumming for us from above.
Cremation will take place under the direction of Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel. There will be no
funeral service; a celebration of his life will be planned for a later date yet to be determined.
