CARL HERBERT FRANK TRUMBLA
MAY 8, 1932 – OCTOBER 18, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Trumbla, who left us peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 92 with his loving family by his side.
Carl was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Yvette for 57 wonderful years. He cherished his role as a loving father to his children, Karen (Bob), Keith, Monique (Scott) and Jason (Jennifer).
His greatest joy were his grandchildren, Grant (Melissa), Matthew, Decklan, Karlie, Savannah, Colton, Blake and his precious little great-granddaughter Lily.
Predeceased by his wife Yvette; his parents Elmer and Gwendoline; his two sisters Nora (Allan) Zastre and Sarah (Paul) Allard as well as his nephew Roy Zastre.
Born in Elie, Manitoba, Carl grew up on the farm, 2 miles north of Elie with his parents, sisters and his dog, Sport. He then moved to the city and met his beautiful Yvette, and they married in 1957. Carl worked at Fort Whyte cement plant before acquiring B.E.M. Electronics that he owned and managed until his retirement. Carl was dedicated to the business. His success was founded on the high level of customer service he provided to his loyal customers and treated every customer like family as he was passionate about the business. But first and foremost was his love and dedication to his family.
Carl was an avid baseball fan; his favorite teams were the Baltimore Orioles and the Atlanta Braves. He also loved watching NHL games with his family, his favorite team the Philadelphia Flyers (before the Jets). He had a great love for fishing, but it was the time spent with his loved ones that mattered most, if he caught a fish that was a bonus. Another great passion was camping in their RV in numerous places in the US. As a young family, three weeks every summer were spent travelling to many western and southern US states, but his favorite was to Estes Park, Colorado. His love of music also took them to We Fest in Detroit Lakes where he had the pleasure to meet Bobby Clarke. Mom and Dad were snowbirds after he retired and they spent many winters in Texas and in Alabama visiting Father Jim Cink, a close family friend. They also enjoyed trips to Hawaii and loved their Caribbean cruises. Dad had a deep love for Hi-Fi and listening to music, normally very loud. He enjoyed building stereo systems and speaker cabinets and this passion was passed on to loved ones.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at West Park Manor for their kind and compassionate care of Carl for the last six years. A special thank you is extended to nurse Nancy, who stayed with Papa/family even beyond her shift to help us through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Carl’s memory.
A Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at 11:00 am. A reception to follow after the service.
