ALLAN CHARLES RUMMERY
January 7, 1941 – November 1, 2026

With a heavy heart, I announce the peaceful passing of my dad on Sunday November 1st, 2026, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 85.

Dad was born on January 7th, 1941, to Edgar & Muriel Rummery and spent his entire life in Winnipeg. He attended Principal Sparling School, Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre. He was the middle child to older sister Patricia and younger sister Judy. As a young boy, he was a proud member of the Boy Scouts Association and delivered newspapers for the Winnipeg Tribune. As a teenager he took up curling and represented Manitoba at the Canadian Schoolboy Curling Championship in 1959 in Calgary, AB. Curling became his passion and where he met his wife of nearly 55 years Nancy. They married in 1966 and went on to have two children, Randy and Tracy. Dad spent most of his years working as a Sales Manager for Manitoba/Rogers Sugar and for the last 10 years leading to retirement he worked for various other companies to fill his time.

He retired in his early 60’s where him and mom downsized their home and took residence in West Country Village Condominiums where they met many people and touched the lives of many in the complex. During retirement, mom and dad made many trips to Briers across Western Canada and made annual trips down to Mexico to enjoy the sun and sand. Dad’s greatest joy was his 3 grandchildren – Sydney, Andrew and Shelby. He attended many Christmas Concerts, dance competitions, sporting events, and every grandchild’s high school graduation. When mom passed in 2021, he would travel to Regina for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas – in search of a turkey supper with all the trimmings and pumpkin pie. I would send him home with a care package to keep fattening him up!

Dad is predeceased by his wife Nancy, and son Randy. He leaves me and many loved ones to cherish his memory including my husband Les, our children Andrew and Shelby, his granddaughter Sydney (nee Randy) and his two sisters, Patricia Tucker of Wilmington NC and Judy Samalack of Mesa AZ.

A heartfelt thank you to his neighbor Gwen who checked on him daily as he started to slow down. I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to all of his neighbors at West Country Village who have stopped by to share a story with me about him and his kind heart. To his best friends, Dave and Lorne, thank you for your support and kind ears over the last week.

I also need to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Grace Hospital, in particular Dr. Alex Sharp. I spent many hours over the last 4 weeks at the hospital, and everyone treated my dad with the utmost respect and always had a funny story to share with me. They helped me to ensure he had a peaceful passing and for that I will be forever grateful.

Dad, you have been a trooper these last 5 years without mom and now you can rejoin the love of your life.

To honour Dad’s wishes, there will be no formal service and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
