ALINE MARIE MARRIN

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aline Marie Marrin (nee Lamothe), beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed peacefully in her sleep on November 7, 2024 at the age of 89. Born on March 17, 1935 in Winnipeg, Aline was the 9th of 11 children. Married in August 1953, she was the loving wife of Lindsay for 71 years and mother of Gary (deceased 2009), Joan (Gerry) and Stuart (Gabrielle). Including immediate and blended family, she was grandmother to 9 and great-grandmother to 12. Her greatest love was family and in addition to her immediate family, this love and influence embraced nieces nephews, cousins and close friends.

Assinboine Park held a very special place in her heart where together, Lindsay and Aline enjoyed cycling, walks through the English Garden and concerts. Her sense of adventure included a love for travel, downhill skiing, canoeing and camping. She was a voracious reader and her artistic talents were captured in her passion for sewing, painting and sculpting. Known for her dinner parties, Aline’s culinary creativity, always on the cutting edge, resulted in one-of-a-kind gourmet meals, impossible to duplicate. She will also be remembered for her volunteer contributions, generosity, wicked sense of humour and her ever present quiet grace and elegance.

Aline will be deeply missed by her husband and family. A beautiful life force to be celebrated, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place, followed by a private family interment. A Celebration of Life to include family and friends will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Winnipeg Foundation.
