ALIDA EMILY PHANEUF Prayers were held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street. Funeral Liturgy was Celebrated on Thursday morning, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. also in the Church with Rev. Fr. Paul J. Tinguely presiding. A private family Entombment was held in St. Charles Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery.Publish Date: Jan 21, 2012ALIDA EMILY PHANEUF On Friday, January 13, 2012, Alida Emily Phaneuf passed away peacefully and gently at home, surrounded by her family. Left to forever cherish Alida’s memory is her beloved husband of 51 years, Eugene; son Real (Michelle), Danielle, Nicole and Monique; daughter Janice (Willie) Butler, Brittany and Brendan; daughter Wendy (Edward) Sikora; and son Rene (Sandy), Cassandra and Renelle; brother John; sisters, Marie, Celine and Dorothy; and her large extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, Henri Lafferty and Marie Mercredi; siblings Germaine, Alphonse, Magloire, Antoinette, Margaret, Agatha and Jeanette. Alida was born December 23, 1934, in Stony Rapids, SK, to a large loving family. An extraordinary wife and mother, her world centered around her family and friends. She created a loving family home and an enduring foundation of Faith in the lives of her children. Alida’s trust in God and her gratitude for his blessings were evident in all she did. She was a dedicated member of St. Charles Ladies Association and the Catholic Women’s League. Alida’s seven grandchildren were the joy of her life and she created a unique and loving relationship with each one. Grandma’s house was the place to be and nothing beat her hugs. Her deep concern and love for others was an inspiration to all those whose lives she touched. She could always be counted on for a word of loving encouragement and a helping hand. In her quiet, gentle way she served others and set a powerful example for us all. Alida was a woman of remarkable talents. Her gift of hospitality reached many people and our table was always surrounded by family and friends. Her creativity was endless she was a skilled seamstress, creating exquisite wedding gowns for her children and many others. Alida’s Christmas arrangements decorated many homes and adorned our Church each holiday season. Alida and Gene loved travelling and made many trips over the years (including the occasional stop at the casino). On their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Alida enjoyed the trip of a lifetime with her entire family in Maui. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street. Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated on Thursday morning, January 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. also in the Church with Rev. Fr. Paul J. Tinguely presiding. A private family Entombment will be held in St. Charles Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Pat Harris and Grace Cancer Care as well as Louise Dansereau and the Palliative Care Team. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honour of Alida’s memory to the St. Charles Parish Building Fund.
