Morris Gordon Ficzycz November 23, 1946 – January 21, 2026

After a wonderful and fulfilling life, Morris Gordon Ficzycz was unexpectedly welcomed into heaven by his Savior, Jesus Christ on January 21, 2026, at the age of 79.

Morris was born and raised in Dauphin, Manitoba by his parents, Anne and John Ficzycz. Following the completion of high school, Morris began a long and meaningful career in the airline industry. Over the years, he held managerial positions in Lynn Lake, Manitoba; Regina, Saskatchewan; and Winnipeg, Manitoba, with various airlines. He truly enjoyed the airline industry, and he was instrumental in the development of air service for Indigenous communities in northern Manitoba.

Morris’ personality was a reflection of his kindness, gentleness, and patience. Through out his life he was loved by everyone. Morris was always fun! Everyone who met him immediately felt joy and comfort from his infectious smile and his warm demeanour. He was always there to help anyone, and everyone, who ever needed it, without any expectation of repayment.

Morris had a deep love of music and delighted in sharing new songs he discovered with family and friends. His tastes were wide-ranging, from Amadeus to Ukrainian music that celebrated his heritage. Known for his sense of fun, Morris loved to dance. He could dance a “mean” polka when the moment called for it…and even sometimes when it didn’t.

Morris loved to travel. He and his wife, Gail, explored many parts of the world. For the past 18 years, he happily escaped the frigid winter months by travelling to warm destinations, creating countless memories along the way.

Above all else, Morris adored his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who made every effort to be present in the lives of those he loved. Whether it be horse riding or gymnastics, he supported and encouraged his girls. He cherished his time with his grandchildren and even drove his grandsons to and from school for many years, simply to enjoy those extra moments together.

Morris is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Gail Ficzycz; his daughters, Kathryn Morris and Kristen Morlock; and his four grandsons, Luca and Matteo Mandarano, Tyson and Brandt Morlock. He is also survived by his sisters, Maryann Hadway (Clifford), Jane Armstrong (Argyle), and Shirley Fisher (George).

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Wayne Ficzycz, and his sisters, Sylvia Solonenko and Diane Paul.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Catholic Church, 15 Columbia Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Interment will take place at Living Waters Columbarium, immediately after the service.

To honour the memory of Morris, and in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made towards St. Gianna’s Meditative Galleryhttps://www.stgianna.ca/saint-gianna-beretta-molla-church/meditative-gallery-for-st-giannas/

Morris leaves behind a legacy of faith, family devotion, service to others, and joy in life’s simple pleasures. He will be remembered always and missed deeply.
