LORRAINE FRASER

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Lorraine Fraser on December 24, 2025.

Lorraine lived her life with generosity and kindness as her guiding principles. She made friends easily and loved to entertain. Her ever-present sense of humour, her joy in simple things, and her care for others made spending time with her very special.

An active and adventure-loving person, she enjoyed hiking, canoeing, skiing, white-water rafting and was always eager for any new experiences. Lorraine loved the natural world and its many creatures. She enjoyed the outdoors and shared many happy times with family, friends, and four-legged family members at the Betula Lake cottage.

Lorraine loved to teach and spent her professional life working with struggling learners and supporting the teachers who worked with them. She had an amazing ability to identify a student’s most critical needs. She taught in rural communities in Manitoba, worked with the Department of Education’s mobile reading clinic, and at the Manitoba Learning Centre. She completed her career in schools in the Pembina Trails School Division. After formally retiring she continued to tutor adult learners.

A life-long reader and writer, Lorraine enjoyed exploring the deeper meanings of life. Reading and writing poetry were some of her favourite activities.

Lorraine had many health challenges which she met with courage, determination, creativity and humour. She was very grateful for the many caring and compassionate healthcare workers she met on her journey. She was especially thankful for the many workers at Oakview Place this past year.

Lorraine was loved and will be missed by her son Wayne, her nephew Doug (Betty) and their son Seth. She will be missed by her friend Noreen and many other close friends as well. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents and her sister Pat.

In memory of Lorraine donations can be made to Siloam Mission.
