John Lindsay Marrin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Lindsay Marrin, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Lindsay passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025 at the age of 93, with his son Stuart and daughter Joan by his side. Born January 4th, 1932 in Winnipeg, Lindsay was the oldest of 5 boys. Married in August 1953 he was a loving husband to Aline (deceased 2024) for 71 years and father to Gary (deceased 2009), Joan (Gerry) and Stuart (Gabrielle). Including immediate and blended family, he was grandfather to 9 and great grandfather to 14. His greatest love was family and this love embraced nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.

Assiniboine Park held a very special place in his heart where with Aline, they enjoyed cycling, walks through the English Garden and many “Concerts in the Park”. Taking up jogging in his 50s, he ran almost daily through and around Assiniboine Park completing his first half marathon a few years later. His sense of adventure included a love of travel, downhill skiing, camping, canoeing, bowling, curling and golf.

For over 30 years he enjoyed working as an accountant for Cowin Steele Co. He will also be remembered for his many years as a dedicated volunteer, sitting on boards to The Manitoba Development Centre and The Citizen’s Advocacy. Always generous with his time, for years he drove seniors and family members to various appointments and functions.

His sense of humour and twinkly eyes will be deeply missed. A kind and considerate life force to be celebrated and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Cremation has taken place. Interment and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Winnipeg Foundation in his memory.
