ELIZABETH ROSE HEAMAN NORTHCOTT
Elizabeth Rose Heaman Northcott passed away peacefully on September 23rd surrounded by family. Beth fought a 21-month battle with breast cancer, facing it with unwavering strength and courage, inspiring all who knew her.
Beth was born August 4, 1983 in Virden, Manitoba to Robert (Bob) and Dorothy Heaman. She spent her early childhood on the family farm, playing alongside her sisters. When her parents separated in 1996, she moved with her mom and sisters to the RM of Elton, where she later graduated high school from Elton Collegiate Institute with the Governor General’s Medal.
Following high school, Beth moved to Winnipeg to pursue a degree in Pharmacy. She began her undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg before transferring to the University of Manitoba, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 2006.
Beth loyally worked her entire career as a pharmacist for Safeway, first taking her to Kamloops, BC, then back to Winnipeg as a Relief Pharmacist. In 2011, Beth was promoted to Pharmacy Manager at the Safeway on River Avenue and Osborne Street, a role she dedicated herself to for 13 years until her diagnosis in 2024.
Beth lived with her youngest sister, Melissa, first in Kamloops, then in Winnipeg until she married Douglas Northcott in 2008. In 2011, Beth and Doug settled in Grande Pointe, Manitoba until their separation. In 2018, Beth moved back into Winnipeg in the St Vital area, where she built a vibrant and full life. She was active in her community, enjoying curling leagues at both the Elmwood and St Vital Curling Clubs, volunteering countless hours at the Children’s Hospital Book Market, and cherishing her time with her beloved book club, the Bizarre Heroines, and their many escapades together.
Beth delighted in her many adventures, such as camping, hiking, kayaking, zip-lining, biking, skating and travelling. Many of her favorite moments were shared with her beloved nieces and nephews, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Her travels took her far and wide – to Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Florida, Quebec City, Ottawa, Montreal, the Atlantic Provinces, Vancouver Island and northern BC, as well as countless trips exploring Manitoba’s provincial parks.
Beth is predeceased by both grandmothers Elizabeth (Betty) Heaman and Rose Dietrich, uncle Richard Dietrich, and two cousins Kirby and Chad Heaman. Beth leaves to mourn her grandfather Walter Heaman; her parents Bob (Cheryl) Heaman and Dorothy (Darren) Wright; siblings Krystle (Andres) Roldan, Melissa (David) Moore, and Aidan (Hayley) Heaman; eight nieces and nephews: Ezra, Mya, Orianna, & Isla Moore and Adelyn, Kobe, Eliza, & Paxon Roldan; partner Kyle O’Grady; beloved cat Oppy; various aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 1pm at 45 Dalhousie Drive in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba in Beth’s memory.
