ELIZABETH LILLIAN BAZIUK(nee TKACHYK)
It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of my wife, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Elizabeth on Friday, July 15, 2016 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 81 years young.   Left to mourn Elizabeth’s memory are her beloved husband John; loving sons David (Lucy), Vance, Kelly (Marilyn) and Jan (Susan); and cherished daughters Leanne (Lloyd) and Marian. She also leaves to mourn seven grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan), Steven (Carmen), Tasha (Marc), Alexa (Devin), Kaylee, Mark and Adam; as well as two great-grandchildren, Ava and Emma.   Born on April 4, 1935 in Stry, Alberta, Elizabeth was the last of 12 children in a hard-working Ukrainian/Polish family.  Mom was very proud of her heritage and showed that by the food she made to feed her family and guests.  Her perogies, cabbage rolls, peroshke and homemade raspberry jam were always requested and gobbled with delight by all of us.   Mom and Dad met in January 1953 in Calgary. They married in November 1956 and moved to Winnipeg where John worked as an RCMP officer and Liz was a stay-at-home mom.  They moved around several times over the years before settling permanently in Winnipeg in July 1975 into the house they’re still in.   Mom and Dad travelled a lot of places in their years together, but the most special place to her was visiting the Holy Land where she got to walk where Jesus walked and even dipped her toes into the Sea of Galilee.   Mom’s Catholic faith was incredibly important to her and she volunteered countless hours of her time for the church, working for the Rummage Sale (the jewelry table was her pride and joy), ACC Ladies’ Group, Catholic Women’s League and hospital visiting to give communion to patients.    Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue with Rev. Fr. Robert Polz, presiding. A private family Interment will be held at a later date.   Our family would like to thank Dr. Pang (family MD), Dr. Konrad (hospital MD) and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, notably Karen (charge nurse), Eva (rehab aide) and nurses Arlene, Karen, Wendy and Melissa for their care of Mom. You are all angels to us.   In lieu of flowers, our family requests that loved ones please take care of their health and live their lives as well as Mom did. Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
