Bruce William Large
It is with profound sadness the family announces the unexpected passing of Bruce William Large on November 17, 2025.
Bruce will be forever missed by his wife and soulmate Tamara, daughters Zenah, Zaydah, and step-daughter Zarah. He is survived by mom Carol, brother Glen (Diana), sister Lori (Jack), niece Chantal and nephew Jackson. He was predeceased by father Hugh and father-in-law Tony.
He was born February 14, 1959 in Minnedosa MB, the second son of Carol and Hugh Large. The family moved to Winnipeg when he was three. Bruce began his education in Winnipeg, which he completed in Alberta when his family moved to Calgary. Later in life he completed education at RRC in Logistics, Materials and Supply Chain Management.
Bruce has always been an entrepreneur at heart. As a youth he would create plastic creepy crawlers in a Thingmaker oven and sell them to his classmates until his mother shut down the operation. In his teenage years he worked at the Village Inn Bowl and Cue. As an adult, he began his career as a courier working for Northern Messenger which transitioned to United Messenger Co-op. One of his proudest moments was starting his own company Bruce Large Trucking. After a number of years running his own business he took a position at AJW Warehouse as a shipper/receiver. His last career move was to a position as a refueler contracted to CN.
Family has always been a central aspect of Bruce’s life. Following his dad’s passing, Bruce was available to help his mom with whatever she needed. Family gatherings with Carol, Glen and Lori’s families kept them close. He was embraced into the extended family of first wife Barb (and step-daughter Kandyce) where he established lifelong friendships.
Starting a family with Tamara brought him much joy. Bruce was actively involved in his daughters’ school progress and extracurricular activities. He always had a joke to share with their friends, treating them like family. He was proud of Zenah working towards her science degree with plans to go on to medicine; he would have been so pleased on Zaydah’s recent acceptance to U of M.
Bruce enjoyed road trips of any nature: to Florida with the family, to Brainerd to watch drag racing, motorcycling to Sturgis, riding ‘shotgun’ to South Carolina to pick up car parts. He enjoyed auto repair and restoration. Bruce learned woodworking and home renovation skills from “Unc” which he put to good use in every home in which he lived. As an animal lover, he always had a collection of pets in their home.
He was always happy to lend a hand and often the first one to answer a call for assistance. Bruce always had a smile on his face and could light up a room with his infectious giggly laugh.
A long-standing tradition of Friday-night shop-night allowed him to gather with friends to share beverages while listening to a wide range of music and watch the occasional movie. One of his favorite movies was Two Lane Black Top which he watched an extraordinary number of times. He was not shy at singing along with his favorite song Hocus Pocus by Focus.
A celebration of life will be held summer 2026.
Donations can be made in Bruce’s name to the Humane Society or any pet shelter of your choice.
