BARRY WAYNE LAWRIE
Barry Wayne Lawrie passed peacefully on July 18, 2024 at the age of 74 at home after a short struggle with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife Leanne of almost 35 years, daughter Candace, stepdaughter Lavon (Rick), and sisters Linda and Sharon.
Barry took care of Leanne for the alst few years. They enjoyed backyard get-togethers, meat draws, lunches at John Osborn and occasionally tried their luck at the slots. They were inseparable. He also loved his weekly visits with his “grand dogger” Frankie.
He lived in Flin Flon where he met Leanne in 1985. Barry loved the outdoors there, camping, fishing and spending time with Candace.
He was a proud boiler maker and was involved with the Union.
Barry and Leanne moved to and settled in Winnipeg in 1987 where he continued as a bolier maker until a job accident caused early retirement.
He was a great uncle (BoBear) to Braelen, Jaden and Eithan when they were kids. He especially liked taking them to his cabin at Lee River.
Many holidays were spent with Lavon and Rick making elaborate hors d’ouvres and playing Rumoli for hours. Barry was a great step-dad and step-dad-in-law to Lavon and Rick, never saying no when asked to help with anything.
He was loved and will be missed.
Services will be on Sunday, August 4th from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 356 Linwood Street, Winnipeg. There will be time for anyone who wishes to share a thought or memory.
