Barbara Jean Turton (née George)
March 16 1953 – October 13, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara Jean Turton, age 72, on October 13, 2025.

Barbara was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Charles and Joan George. She is lovingly remembered by her children, David Turton and Sabrina Turton (Gary), and her grandchildren William, David (Amanda), Andrew, Mathew (Miranda), Marissa (Shaun), and Noah (Laura), as well as her great-grandson Waylon.

She is also survived by her siblings: sisters Nancy George and Susan Wilcox (Dave), and brothers Charles George, Patrick George, and John George.

She will be held near and dear to the hearts of her friends, especially Louis Ouelette, who held her heart for many years. Also, her cousin Christine Baldwin and her Aunty Lillian who she spent the last few years living with and caring for.

Barbara is predeceased by her parents Charles and Joan George, as well as their first-born child Agnes who passed at birth.

Barbara loved her family with her whole heart. Her happiest place in the world was her beloved cottage in Grand Marais, her sanctuary and pride and joy. Every summer, she welcomed her children and later her grandchildren to the beach she adored. From the long trips from Thompson to the warm days spent on the sand, Barbara created countless memories filled with love, laughter, and stories from her own childhood.

Her greatest joy was sharing Grand Beach with her grandchildren. She beamed with pride watching them play in the sand, gaze at the stars from the backyard, and walk with her along the back beach. Those moments with her were filled with warmth and wonder, and they will be cherished forever.

It will be hard to fill the space she leaves behind. We love you, Mom, and we will miss you every day. Thank you for your big heart and for the memories that will live on in all of us.
