AGNES KRUPKA (nee SCHAFF)
Surrounded by her family, Agnes Krupka (nee Schaff) passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026.
Agnes is lovingly remembered by her children Colleen, Jacqueline (Gerry), Mark (Lisa), Maureen (Brian) and Annette (David); her grandchildren Sasha, Aaron, Dylan (Chloe), Carly, Rachel (Michael), Nicholas, Trent, Reanne (Jordan) and Jordan; and her great grandchildren Isadora, Levi, Mervyn, Julie, Liv and Rooke; as well as her dear niece, Patricia Burak.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband Mervyn; son-in-law Lee Walker; and her siblings, Michael, Marie, Lillian, Catherine, Ann, Gertrude, William and Irene.
Agnes was born in 1935 in Lampman, Saskatchewan (SK) and grew up on the family farm. She completed her high school and post secondary education in Estevan, SK. Agnes met Mervyn at an Easter dance, and they married on September 1, 1956. After marriage, they lived in Swift Current but later moved back to Estevan where their five children where born.
In 1966, Mervyn accepted a position with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) and the family moved to Pinawa, Manitoba. Taken by the natural beauty and idyllic amenities of the town, Agnes and Mervyn loved their new home. Agnes worked for the town at the Local Government District office and later for AECL, at the Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment in Pinawa.
Agnes was very creative and had a keen sense of design whether it be in home décor or fashion. As a skilled seamstress, her daughters experienced the entire design process from choosing their own patterns, selecting fabrics and having many tailoring sessions with her. In the end, they felt their mom created haute couture fashions worthy of Milan or Paris runways. In his younger years, her son and she enjoyed bike riding together, cruising the town. Agnes was also a wonderful baker, an adventurous cook and had a love for gardening. Upon retiring, Agnes and Mervyn moved to Winnipeg to be closer to family and they embraced their new city life.
Agnes made many friends through her work and the Catholic church. Her faith was unwavering and she participated in many volunteer opportunities with her church over the years. Her devotion to her family, her resiliency, and the grace with which she approached her life was admirable. We will celebrate our memories of her every day.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Tuxedo Villa. Their exceptional care and compassion for Mom will always be remembered.
Cremation has taken place as per her wish. A private Funeral Mass and interment will take place later in the year.
